QUICK ANSWERS
Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about the game concept, current prototype, sound system, supported devices, accounts, and future community features.
What is Beat Critters?
Beat Critters is a music-mixing game concept where each animated character contributes a loop. Players combine up to seven performers on a visual stage.
Can I play in a browser?
The site is designed around a browser-first prototype. The public game connection is still in development, and the Play page clearly identifies the current state.
How many characters are there?
The first team, Neon Howlers, contains 24 characters organized into five sound families.
How many sounds are included?
Each character has Rooftop and Neon Overdrive variations, creating 48 prototype loops in total.
How many performers fit on stage?
Up to seven characters can perform at the same time.
What happens when I tap a character?
In the planned interaction, the first tap solos that character, the second tap mutes it, and the third restores the normal mix.
Can performers change positions?
Yes. Dragging one stage character to another position swaps them with an animated move.
How do I remove a performer?
Drag the performer below the stage and release it. The character returns to its original position in the selection tray.
Does stage position affect sound?
Yes. A performer placed toward the left or right sends more of its sound to that stereo channel.
What is performance mode?
Performance mode hides editor circles, names, and background controls, starts the on-stage cast, and enlarges characters in place.
Does it work on phones?
The interface is mobile-first and adapts to phones, tablets, laptops, and wide screens. Small stages can scroll horizontally so all seven positions remain usable.
Can I switch visual styles?
The architecture supports stage, character, background, and team styles. Rooftop and Neon Overdrive are the first character variations.
Can I save my mix?
Account-based saving is planned. A saved configuration will include the lineup, positions, style choices, stage, and relevant mix state.
Can I export a video?
Video export and sharing are future roadmap features and are not presented as available in the current prototype.
Is the music final?
No. Current audio is for internal prototyping. A public release requires original or properly licensed Beat Critters audio.
Is the community already active?
No. Community publishing, profiles, and popularity data are planned. The site intentionally avoids fabricated user activity.
Is Beat Critters family friendly?
The design goal is an approachable creative experience. Specific account, moderation, and privacy safeguards will be documented before community features launch.
Will there be more teams?
Yes. Neon Howlers is the first team, and the data architecture supports adding teams with new characters, sounds, and visual identities.
